When Robert Rink invested in the Del Taco locations, he invested in a QSR franchise. QSR stands for “quick service restaurant.”

Quick service restaurants originated from fast food chains, which were typically hamburger restaurants. The fast food restaurants of old have garnered a reputation of being unhealthy and of serving junk food, but the QSRs of today are making the point that healthy food can be served quickly as well.

When an entrepreneur opts to obtain a QSR franchise they get the benefits of buying into an established brand name and being a recipient of a business support system that consists of the parent company and all the other franchisees.

A recognizable name like Del Taco, for example, does not need the same level of marketing that a new, unknown restaurant will need. Once the franchisee has picked a suitable location and has put up the restaurant, most people will be familiar with what the restaurant is about because of previous marketing efforts and experiences with other restaurants in the chain.

A QSR franchise also comes with training and support from the parent company, something that could save both time and effort when compared to setting up a restaurant and learning how to run it by trial and error.
